Project highlight: Blackbrooks Garden Centre

At Blackbrooks Garden Centre in the United Kingdom, an outdated polytunnel structure has been transformed into a modern, well-insulated retail environment.

GVZ Glasshouses upgraded the existing structure to an A-frame roof solution. For this project, WNL supplied a complete roofing system to GVZ, including 40 mm sandwich panels, polycarbonate roof lights, gutter profiles, and flashing/trim works. This provided a fully integrated, high-quality building envelope solution.

By applying 40 mm sandwich panels in combination with polycarbonate roof light sheets, a bright and comfortable space with excellent natural daylight was created. The insulating properties of the sandwich panels ensure an energy-efficient and low-maintenance building with a stable indoor climate throughout the year.

The white internal finish creates a clean and bright appearance while maximising light reflection, contributing to reduced energy consumption for artificial lighting. Carefully designed detailing with matching profiles and flashings ensures the entire roof system is fully watertight with a clean architectural finish.

With a total area of 720 m², the project was completed within 5–6 weeks and delivered on schedule, with minimal disruption to the garden centre’s daily operations.

WNL has been working in partnership with GVZ on various projects in the UK for many years. We would like to thank GVZ for their continued trust in our materials and solutions.

The result is a durable, low-maintenance and energy-efficient retail environment that provides optimal conditions for both visitors and staff, as well as for the storage and presentation of products.

A strong example of how complete roofing solutions contribute to the future of modern garden centres.
